Beach restoration work at the
east end of the island was
completed July 29th, two days
ahead of schedule. A new
flushing channel to the ocean
has been opened and is already renourishing critical habitat in
that area. During the course of
the work, approximately 550,000
cubic yards of sand were
redistributed between the Ocean
Course Clubhouse and the 16th
fairway.
Negotiations between the Town
and the Resort regarding
redevelopment of the West Beach
area continue. Concern has
been expressed by some property
owners about the lack of a
formal process for property
owner input during the
negotiations. There has
been no word yet on when a
proposed draft agreement might
be released for public review.
