Kiawah Island Property Owners Group

At the July 11 Town Council meeting, Ordinance 2005-4, restricting biking on the Kiawah Island Parkway, passed unanimously with no further discussion.  The Town determined the operation of bicycles, jogging, roller-blading, skating and skateboarding are not safe on that portion of Kiawah Island Parkway from the front gate to Betsy Kerrison Parkway. 

 

Only experienced bikers wearing reflective biker clothing, a helmet and displaying on the bicycle a permit issued by the Town will be allowed to ride on the Parkway, effective immediately and until such time as there is a bikepath constructed in this area.

 

Work started on the beach restoration project in early June and is expected to be completed by July 31.  Sand is already accreting on the beach and new shoals are forming offshore as a result of this work.
