October 28th Announcement from the KPOG Board of Directors

Research Committee Updates Analysis of 2005 Development Agreement

On September 30, 2005, KPOG provided all property owners with an analysis of Who Gets What in the then proposed 2005 Development Agreement (DA) between the Town of Kiawah Island and KRA.  That analysis was based upon information and documents publicly available as of September 30, and is posted on this site (link).  The November 2005 issue of Kiawah Island Talk contained an Executive Summary of Who Gets What, which focused only on key issues in the final 2005 DA, as approved by Town Council at its October 12, 2005 meeting (link).

As promised in the November Talk, KPOG has also updated its September 30 analysis to identify changes effected by the Town since that analysis was issued.  Text deleted from the KRA and Property Owner columns is marked “DELETED” and remains with a line through it, e.g., This text deleted.  Modified text, additions to the DA, additional discussion, and changes in page references are highlighted in yellow, e.g. This text highlighted.   For ease of access, two versions of the Research Committee’s Updated Analysis are posted here.  One version is for reading online (link), and the second is a printable version for those who would prefer a hard copy (link).

The majority of the changes which are incorporated into the approved DA were advocated by individual property owners, KICA, or KPOG.  Even though other suggested changes were not adopted, those changes that were made resulted in a better agreement than what was first unveiled to the public on August 23.

Faith Dodge, President of KICA, has already sent an email about some of the changes affecting KICA, and the November 2005 issue of Kiawah Island Digest  includes a short article on this subject.  The Town has also promised further communication about the Development Agreement.
