January 28th Announcement from the KPOG Board of Directors

The following actions took place at the January 27th Kiawah Island Town Planning Commission meeting:

  • The Planning Commission met on January 27 to decide on a recommendation to the Town Council concerning the proposed rezoning of the Ocean Course Property. After considerable discussion, the Planning Commission decided on the major elements of the Kiawah Island Resorts, KIR, Proposal to rezone and upgrade the Ocean Course.
  • In summary, the major departures from the KIR’s Proposal were approval of 10 new cottages or dwelling units instead of the 20 requested. Also, they decided to recommend removal of the existing club house and parking lot instead of conversion to a conference center as requested. The Commission did agree to recommend 20 hotel rooms as part of the new Club House as requested by KIR. The exact Planning Commission  Recommendation will be presented to the Town Council and a Public Hearing is scheduled for February 12 prior to consideration by the Council.
