The following actions took place at the
January 20th Town Planning Commission meeting:
-
The Town
Planning Commission held a public hearing on the proposed changes to
the Ocean Course. The meeting was conducted by Alan Burnaford,
Chairman of the Planning Commission. All members of the commission
were present, except for one member who was out of the country and
will hear a taped version of the meeting.
-
Prem Devadas gave an overview of
the plan, which was described in detail by the building and
landscape architects. Nearly 200 property owners attended the
hearing with approximately 20 speakers giving an opinion to
the Commission. There were speakers both in favor and against
the plan. While essentially all were in agreement that the
resort had high standards and was a major benefit to the
Island, a majority appeared to be against the plan or
requesting some modifications.
-
The
Planning Commission will meet on January 27th and agree on a
recommendation to the Town Council. The Town Council will then
have a Public Hearing on February 13th and decide on a first
reading of an Ordinance that same day. If passed, a second and
final reading of the Ordinance has not been scheduled but will
probably take place one month later on March 10th.
