From the October 14th Kiawah Island Town Council meeting:
-
Councilman Don McIver made a statement
regarding public disclosure of executive session information by
Councilman Rich Bennett. McIver stated the “disclosures were not
only inappropriate, more importantly they were misleading and not
entirely factual.” He went on to present detail of meetings with KRA
concerning the Utility issue. You can read Mr. McIver’s full
statement in the upcoming edition of TALK.
-
Councilman Leo
Fishman issued a statement describing the procedure by which
properties, termed as undeveloped, were sometimes approved by
the ARB and County Planning Office without strict adherence to
Town zoning standards. Fishman went on to state, “We have a
private organization, ARB, performing a public function. And
while certain duties have been delegated through the
development agreement, it appears as if elements of due
process are not required.” Councilman Fishman’s entire
statement can be read in the next issue of TALK.
-
Council passed the
first reading of Ordinance 2003-7 and 2003-8 dealing with
rental regulations. These ordinances deal with occupancy,
lighting, noise, parking, trash collection and other
requirements. Ordinance 2003-6 dealing with violations was
tabled for further study. A public hearing will be scheduled
prior to second reading on the ordinances.
