The following actions
took place at the July 8th Kiawah Island Town Council meeting:
-
Council discussed Short Term
Rules and Regulations presented by the Planning Commission and made
several suggestions for change. The document was subsequently turned
over to Town Administrator Allison Harvey and Legal Council Mike
Socha to draft an ordinance.
-
The Town has
held two meetings with KRA on the water utility issue. Another
meeting is planned for the purpose of seeking middle ground
for the Management Audit and crafting an Arbitration
Agreement.
-
KRA has asked
the Department of Transportation to raise the final elevation
of the Roundabout approximately one foot to satisfy several
concerns. This change could add $275,000 to the final
construction cost and delay the project (8) months. The DOT
will reply this week.
-
After
discussion on the Parkway Master Plan, Council decided to
schedule at least one public meeting and hold a workshop with
the Planning Commission, Public Works, Ways and Means, and
Charleston County. One area for discussion is the construction
of a bike path from Kiawah to Freshfields with an estimated
price tag of up to $700,000.
